Welcome to my little space on the World Wide Web. If you missed the About Me page, be sure to check it out!
This Blog is the place on which I will share my passions and hobbies! Photography, as you may already have seen in my About Me section, is my major love!
In fact, anything related to Photography and photography tech is of great interest to me – the equipment, the editing, everything involved in creating this art. I am fascinated with local life, and capturing it from afar.
Each individual photo gives us opportunity to explore either a story, a moment, a city or a culture. In one snapshot, we can sometimes see years of history in the blink of an eye! This for me is one of the most fascinating aspects of photography, and something I would like to share with you in this blog…
So, you can expect posts that not only include photographic content, but also information on the equipment I use, dislike, love………The past couple of decades have been revolutionary to the photography business and market.
You no longer have to spend hours in a dark room to see if what you captured was good enough. Instead, the technology we have today gives us instant access to images. And that is a good and a bad thing! I am sure many photographers yearn for the days of yore, when the end of the process was a complete surprise!
I’ll also share some of the tips and hints I have learned throughout my career – the best locations, lighting and staging tricks, how to work with drones, what gadgets make the modern photographer’s job easier, anything related to photography for both the professional and the budding hobbyist.
Oh, and speaking to professional photographers, I know all the hassles and hoops you need to jump through to get your professional photography equipment into China, Russia and other countries. I’ll also share tips about navigating visa applications for professionals. That can sometimes be a real pain. Reach out to me if you want to chat!
Of course, my photography career – and list of works – is intrinsically linked to my travels. It would be impossible to show photos from some of the world’s most interesting cities and countries without taking some time out and looking at each of these places.
So, we’ll spend some time on travelling, locations and cultures. We can take the context of one or two photos and learn together a little about the history and backdrop to these places
Like human behavior, there is no predictability to my routes! I want to share some of this path with you all, maybe give you an insight into some of my works. I have been lucky enough to travel to many countries. Often, whilst traveling, I come across common themes in a country, and maybe focus on them for a while.
For example, you can check out my expose Resting Places – this was something that really fascinated me, and gives an interesting insight into the burial culture and traditions in Peru.
In this blog, I would love to share more of these sorts of themes, but also one off moments that just simply called to me on my journeys.
Let’s embark on this journey together! As always, I will be delighted to hear what you think! Your thoughts, comments and suggestions are always welcome.
Please reach out to me here, and of course you are encouraged to leave a comment against any image that takes your fancy!
